Using Money for Control
People who want to control their partner have often used money as a way to accomplish their goal. Money in the relationship may be tight, and the controller will shame their partner by accusing them of spending it unwisely. Their partner may try to justify their spending as only being for necessary items such as food or utilities. They seldom get the chance because their controlling partner never lets them get a word into the conversation.
When this type of scenario occurs, a person should get out of the relationship as soon as possible, and contacting friends and family is a good way to accomplish this goal. Using guilt or shame to blame a partner for procuring necessities is not done by a person interested in having a good relationship. They simply want to control the other person, and this can lead to physically abusive behavior. Escaping from this person may quickly become a reality as the control escalates.
